The year is 2026. Delphine has been locked inside a secured research facility deep in the forest. Though the facility is surrounded by gorgeous views of trees, clouds, and fresh air, it has been years since Delphine has experienced any of this. Elise, Delphine’s facility attendant, takes some pity on Delphine and permits a little outdoor excursion, though it is unclear whether this excursion is truly for the benefit of Delphine or Elise. Inside the facility, Elise instructs Delphine to enter a neoprene bodybag that covers Delphine from head to toe. Once zipped inside, Elise begins the strapping down process that encapsulates Delphine’s whole body with thick leather belts that are locked to the metal gurney she lays on. Finally, Elise explains that Delphine is not permitted to breathe the fresh air outside, but instead she must breathe air from the SCUBA tank instead, and attaches a yellow gas mask on top of the neoprene hood. With these protective measures in place, Elise rolls the gurney out of the facility and into the gorgeous, fresh air. As she pushes Delphine around outside, Elise describes what Delphine cannot experience on her own – the gorgeous trees, the fresh air, the howling wind, as Delphine is locked inside with no sense of what is taking place around her.
