Welcome to The Stanford County Detention Center, a women’s correctional facility with strict rules and power tripping Corrections Officers. This is not your every day prison, but a very harsh daily reality for the convicted ladies who spend their days locked up here.
EPISODE 1: CAUGHT
Kora is alone locked up in her cell, telling her imaginary viewer about who she is, where she is, and how long she will be there. She narrates overhead as she numbs herself to the sting of time slowly passing her by with a book of word puzzles…
In this pilot episode for a longer running series, Kora is an inmate currently serving a 10 year sentence. She wears an orange uniform with black stenciling on the back, marking her as an inmate of the facility, and she has a matching pair of cheap plastic orange slides. Her home is a barred cell made of concrete and metal, and it measures barely 6ft by 6ft.
In Kora’s unit the regular regime is mostly a lot of time locked down in cells, with very minimal interaction between inmates, but there is enough intermingling that contraband can circulate if it gets inside the prison walls…
